We haven't heard much from the Austin indie-poppers Voxtrot since their eponymous debut LP back in 2007. That LP was a bit of a disappointment for those who gobbled up each of their early EPs with relish, and I didn't have much patience for the band after the album hit shelves in May. Now that some time has passed, I'm eager for something new. Lucky for us, the band has provided.Produced, recorded, and mixed by Jim Eno from Spoon in his Austin studio, “Trepanation Party”—a song with rolling thunder toms, gargantuan haunted house piano, some churchy synth strings on top—coincides with two shows Voxtrot are playing this week down in their hometown, including our party with Media Temple tonight, Tuesday the 17th, at La Zona Rosa.
