It's filled with heavy bass, lush guitars, and of course Brian Aubert's soothingly uneasy voice. Like many tracks off Carnavas, the group's debut LP, "Panic Switch" builds and builds until -- just before all hell breaks loose -- there's a sudden drop to whispered vocals and silent insturmentals, making the final explosive climax all the more sensational. And this is sensational. Looks like the Pickups haven't gone in a new direction with Swoon, only juiced up their old game with the heaps of confidence the success of Carnavas surely must have delivered. Swoon should be a powerful affair.
